VarioxAC-TL Cryofree® cryostat with integral variable temperature insert

Variox-AC-TL top loading cryogen free optical cryostat

The VarioxAC-TL top-loading cryostat provides a controlled low temperature sample environment in which the sample is cooled through a static exchange gas, without the need for liquid cryogens.

The VarioxAC-TL is a top loading cryostat. This means the sample is fitted on a sample holder which fits at the bottom of a sample rod. The rod is loaded in the cryostat sample space via a load-lock mechanism. Changing samples only takes a few minutes as the cryostat doesn't need to be warmed up during sample change.
  • Neutron scattering and beamline experiments

The VarioxAC-TL is ideal for applications such as neutron scattering experiments where the cryostat is situated at a remote beamline experimental station. Thanks to its Cryofree technology, the user does not need to access the experimental area to top up with liquid helium.

  • Quality control

We have shipped a system which is used for low temperature FT-IR analysis of single crystal silicon. At low temperatures, the number of free carriers becomes very small and the IR spectrum of the sample exhibits a series of absorption bands that are characteristic of each impurities. Also the carbon can be measured at lower concentrations because the two-phonon band transmission is increased by a factor of two allowing greater throughput to the detector that results in an increased signal to noise ratio.

Photo of the system cam be seen in the Images tab on this page.
